Richard passed away at 4:55 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Phillips was born on May 14, 1943, in Paducah to Charles W. and Daisy (Flood) Phillips. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired after 36 years as a lineman for Paducah Power Systems. He also managed the Paducah Drive-in for 17 years.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Janis Horner Phillips; two daughters, Sheri Lynne Gudgell and husband Scott of Paducah and Angie Danae Fugate and husband John of Gilbertsville; five grandchildren, Emily Catherine Gudgell, Cameron Scott Gudgell, Ryan Conner Gudgell, Madison Brooke Fugate, and Alexis Hope Fugate; one brother, Jim Phillips and wife Sue of Paducah; one sister, Fairy Dunaway of Whitehouse, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters, one of which was also our classmate, Pearline Phillips.
