Sandy passed away peacefully at his home in Arnaudville,LA, February 7, 2007 at the age of 61. Sandy was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was much-loved by those who knew him. A gifted teacher and poet, Sandy was a graduate of Oberlin College and the MFA program in writing from the University of Iowa. He traveled throughout the country for twenty years teaching in public schools as an artist-educator with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This work took him to 36 states where he taught creative writing to over 50,000 young people and several thousand teachers. Sadly, Sandy passed away before the publication in March of his latest book, "Writing Poetry from the Inside Out". Sandy felt deeply connected to the landscape of LA where he had resided for nine years. He often said that it was there that his inner poet came alive again and that he found "the love of my life", his companion, Fran Clarke. He was survived by Fran; one sister, Jayn Stewart & her husband, Albert Moore of Santa Fe, NM; two nieces, 2 nephews, one great niece and one great nephew. Sandy was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Kidder-Lyne, his parents and one brother, Jim Lyne.
